Islay Pipe Band @ Jura Music Festival

In the weekend from 25-27 September the annual Jura Music Festival was held, this year for the 16th time already. Among the many artists such as the Blazin’ Fiddles, Karen Matheson and Michael McGoldrick to name a few were the Islay Pipe Band as well. In the video below you can see and hear the Islay Pipe Band playing in front of the Jura Distillery.

The Pipe Band published the following in the Ileach newspaper: After our performance in the afternoon we held piping and drumming workshops with the help of snare drum tutor Jim Whitfield. Everyone was kept busy trying their hand – and we played again in the late afternoon.

Saturday evening was extremely busy with bagpipes and a ceilidh band playing in the hotel. There was also a concert in the hall while local band “Peat Smoke and the Roaches” played in a marquee. The dancing in the hall with Archie McAllister and his friends went on until – well who knows – but it was late anyway….

The band was staying in a house up on the hill behind the Antlers – but it was quite a dark walk up to it. The bramble bushes claimed a few casualties on the way…We played again early on Sunday afternoon before heading home. A great time was had by all and we would like to thank the Festival committee for asking us over.
