Last week I showed some views of Jura’s Small Isles Bay and this week I’ve created a few new panorama images of Lowlandman’s Bay, which is north of Small Isles Bay and just as beautiful. The panorama picture consists of ten images taken from a wee hill called Maol nam Fineag, the bare hill of the mites. The view from here over the two bays is quite stunning as you can see in the panorama image. I’ve also created a second panorama image of the Lightkeepers’ House where the keeper of the Skervuile Lighthouse lived before it was automated. You can see Skervuile Lighthouse in the distance between Jura and the Kintyre peninsula.

Your Lowlandmans Bay panoramas are stunning. We spent many a happy family summer holiday at the Lighthouse Keepers’ House back in the fifties. In those days it was a much simpler and more basic establishment than it is today. No road, no electricity, no running water. Access was by boat or foot. Nevertheless we loved being there as we were free to roam and explore.
In the days before Skervuile Lighthouse was automated the main building could house three lighthouse keepers and their families in three flats and a boatman in a separate cottage. It must have been pretty bleak and isolated community in the winter.
Thanks very much Robin. We’ve just completed another tour on the island and created even more panorama’s which will be uploaded soon. Thanks for visiting and also for the info, much appreciated!
