Single Track Road Etiquette on Jura

Our single-track road is the island’s lifeline, shared by cyclists, cars, and working vehicles. Here’s what you need to know:

Essential Tips:

• Always cycle on the left side
• Use passing places to let vehicles overtake
• Be extra alert around blind corners
• Remember: local drivers may be on essential business
• Wave ‘thank you’ when drivers wait – it’s the Jura way!

Watch Out For:
• Deer crossing suddenly (especially at dawn/dusk)
• Farm vehicles and livestock
• Cows who love to take their time
• The occasional pothole after weather events

Good to Know:
• Passing places are marked with black/white posts
• Mobile signal is patchy – download maps beforehand
• Our road has stunning views – but stay alert while stopping for photos
• Local drivers will usually give cyclists plenty of space
