The Isle of Jura is home to some stunning beaches, We would like to present some of them in detail here when we have more time. But for now here are five of our favourite:
Small Isles School Beach: A sheltered wee beach infront of the island’s school. Lovely and safe for children with beautiful white sand.
Glenbatrick Bay: Tucked away on the northwestern coast of Jura, Glenbatrick Bay is a secluded gem accessible via a scenic hike from Knockrome. Surrounded by rugged cliffs and lush greenery, this sheltered bay features a mix of sandy and pebbly shores, making it perfect for picnics, sunbathing, and wildlife watching.
Corran Sands: Situated 4km out of Craighouse, this pristine beach is accessible via two car parking areas. Wee Corran is the Craighouse side and there are bins and picnic table here. This is the start of The Corran Path. Big Corran is the other side of the river and has a huge expansive stretch of golden sand offers sweeping views of the Paps.
Shian Bay: Located on the island’s west coast. Walk out from Ruantallain Bothy.
Glengarrisdale Bay: Nestled on the northeastern coast of Jura, Glengarrisdale Bay is a remote and unspoiled beach accessible via a challenging hike or by boat. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and rugged moorland, this secluded bay offers a sense of wilderness and tranquility. Visitors can enjoy walking along the sandy shore, exploring the rocky coastline, and admiring the stunning natural scenery. Stay at Glengarrisale Bothy.
More to come on beaches, but some of the island’s best beaches are showcased here in this gallery.
