Jura Music Festival

26th – 28th September 2025
Craighouse

The Jura Music Festival once again filled the island with the sound of traditional and contemporary Scottish music. Over three days, the village played host to a packed programme of concerts, ceilidhs, workshops, and open sessions that brought musicians and audiences together from near and far.

Highlights included the Friday night locals’ concert — where Jura’s own talent shone on stage — followed by a weekend of unforgettable performances from visiting artists. Workshops offered the chance to learn from the best, while informal sessions spilled out into pubs and community spaces, keeping the music flowing long into the night.

Saturday and Sunday also featured ceilidhs and dances, with plenty of opportunities for everyone to join in, making the festival not just a showcase of music but a true celebration of Jura’s community spirit.

The Jura Music Festival has become a much-loved fixture on the island calendar, drawing regular visitors back each year to experience the unique combination of world-class music, island hospitality, and an unbeatable atmosphere.

This event took place from 27th–29th September 2025 in Craighouse.

Wednesdays each week

Jura Craft Fair

Dates: Every Wednesday, 12pm – 4pm, Craighouse Village Hall

The weekly Jura Craft Fair brought the Village Hall to life throughout the summer, with stalls from local makers and producers showcasing the island’s creativity and talent. From hand-crafted gifts and textiles to home baking, preserves, and seasonal produce, it was the perfect place to pick up a unique memento of Jura.

Visitors and locals alike enjoyed browsing the stalls, meeting the makers, and supporting small businesses — all while catching up over tea, coffee, and a generous slice of cake served in the hall.

The fair quickly became a favourite midweek gathering, offering both a taste of Jura’s craftsmanship and a warm community welcome.

This event series took place weekly across summer 2025.

he Jura Regatta is one of the island’s best-loved traditions — a full day of fun on and off the water. Expect rafts, rowing, sailing, and swimming competitions, with plenty of cheering from the shore.

Once the trophies have been awarded, the celebrations continue into the night with a lively dance in the hall, featuring music from the Lomond Ceilidh Band.

This family-friendly day brings the whole community together, with something for everyone to enjoy — whether you’re taking part, spectating from the beach, or joining in the dancing later on.

This event took place on 2nd August 2025 in Craighouse.

Saturday 26th July 2025

Jura Sports

Saturday 26th July 2025
Ardlussa Sports and Dance

A true island tradition, the Ardlussa Sports Day is set to bring the whole community together once again. Expect an afternoon of fun-filled races — from sprints and sack races to hammer throwing, egg-and-spoon, and the much-loved tug-of-war.

There’ll be home baking, burgers on the grill, and plenty of cheering on the sidelines. And once the sports are done, the celebrations continue into the night with a lively ceilidh — this year with music from The Flingstones.

Funds raised will support local charities and causes, making the day not only one of Jura’s most enjoyable gatherings but also one that gives back.

This event took place on 26th July 2025 in Ardlussa.

July 2025

Jura 10k & Half Marathon

🏃 Jura Half Marathon & 10K Race

Date: Saturday 19th July 2025

he ever-popular Jura 10K and Half Marathon returns this summer, bringing runners from near and far to tackle the island’s challenging roads. With stunning views and plenty of community support along the way, it’s a highlight for both participants and spectators.

The event is organised by the Islay Running Club, with thanks to Deer Island Rum for sponsorship and Jura Hall for hosting. Volunteers will be on hand throughout — as always, it wouldn’t happen without them!

Whether you’re running, cheering from the roadside, or joining in at the hall afterwards, it promises to be another memorable Jura race day.

This event took place on 19th July 2025 in Craighouse.
