West Highland Housing Association was delighted to be joined by Argyll and Bute Council, NHS Highland and many people of the Jura community on the 23rd September for the formal opening of the Jura Progressive Care Centre and six General Needs houses. The opening was performed by Stewart Maxwell, Minister for Communities and Sport, and all involved had the opportunity to speak with residents and staff and see how well the Centre actually works. Ken MacColl, Chair of West Highland Housing Association said “This Centre is a tribute to the hard work of the people of Jura who believed in this project for so long. We were delighted to be part of a larger partnership of Argyll and Bute Council and NHS Highland to develop the Centre and additional houses. The Scottish Government provided much of the funding for this and should be congratulated for their help and assistance throughout, not just with housing but also with other regeneration funding that has allowed work to be done with the schoolchildren and local contractors.” Picture shows Communities Minister Stewart Stevenson with residents of the Jura Progressive Care Centre and a representative from the local housing association.
