Bothan Jura Wild Sauna

The sea is your plunge pool.

Bothan Jura Wild Sauna is based at Bothan Jura Retreat in Knockrome but offers an authentic wild sauna experience up and down Jura as it’s a mobile horsebox which can travel to different coastal locations.  Wood-fired heat. Cold ocean plunges. Nothing between you and the horizon but salt air and silence.

The Experience

Our wood-fired sauna sits on different shorelines with direct access to the sea.  When based at ‘home’  at the retreat there is an ice barrel. You heat up in the traditional wood-burning sauna, then you step straight into the Atlantic for cold water immersion. The contrast between fire and ocean is immediate, invigorating, and entirely wild.

This isn’t a spa. There are no towel warmers or piped music. Just the crackle of burning wood, the sound of waves, and the kind of quiet you don’t find anywhere else.

What to Expect

  • Traditional wood-fired sauna on the shore
  • Direct sea access for cold water plunges
  • Private sessions available
  • Towels and robes provided
  • Completely off-grid experience
  • Spectacular coastal views

Location

Bothan Jura Wild Sauna is located at Bothan Jura Retreat, Isle of Jura, Scotland.
