A Triumphant Return: Jura Dog Show 2025
After three years of weather-related cancellations, the Jura Dog Show finally returned on 21st September 2025 — and the sun shone bright on the island’s finest hounds. With entrants from Jura and beyond (even as far afield as Ayrshire, Surinam, and Bruichladdich), the hotel field was alive with wagging tails and cheering crowds.
The show combined agility, obedience, and a dash of the “Ministry of Silly Walks” as dogs and owners tackled playful challenges under the watchful eye of judge Guy Morlock. Nineteen dogs took part, competing across six categories, with plenty of laughs along the way.
Highlights included:
Best in Show: Stuart and Idris Livingstone
Agility Champion: Riley Rozga
Waggiest Tail: Kipper
Best Named Dog: Nigel
Dog-Most-Like-Its-Owner: Pirlo and Grace
Top Trick: Tig (with his recycling routine)
- Obedience: Pixel
The event raised around £450 for the school council — a fantastic effort helped along by Sofie’s organising, Guy’s adjudicating, Scott’s deluxe tea tent, the Jura Hotel’s field, and the many bakers who supplied cakes.
As the Jottings put it, “Only half of which was used to bribe the judge.” With the laughter and sunshine still fresh in memory, islanders are already looking forward to the 2026 event.
As reported in the Jura Jottings, October 2025.
