Jura Car Ferry News

June 9, 2009 by Ron 1 Comment

Yesterday I wrote about the ferry problems between Port Askaig and Feolin. The Eilean Dhiura had technical problems and was replaced with the Margaret Sinclair who had to leave later in the weel. At this moment the vehicle ferry MV Eigg from Calmac is servicing the route between Port Askaig and Feolin until the Eilean Dhiura returns on Thursday, if all goes as planned.

Jura is my family home and this is the best information I have found about it in a long time. My family roots are with the name Campbell and to some extent Nordan. Are there any specifics out there which would give further clues to these family names. Both families immigrated to North Carolina (USA) and the Campbells settled in Fayetteville, North Carolina, a section of which used to be name colloquially “Campbellton.” The time frame associated with these immigrations was probably ABOUT 1720-1820. Any information that could be shared would be greatly appreciated.
